Golden Threads
http://www.home.earthlink.net/~goldengurl/
Golden Threads is a contact publication for lesbians, published 4 times a year in March, June, September and December. It is a world wide network, founded in 1985 by Christine Burton, because she was refused membership in a pen pal network due to her age of 50. She vowed that one day, she would create something for the older and mid-life lesbian, to end loneliness and isolation, and that no one would be denied membership due to their age.
There have been members as young as 19 and boasted the oldest living lesbian in the United States, Ruth Ellis, who was a lifetime member until the age of 101. Sadly, she passed away 5 October 2000!!! Any lesbian age 85 or over, need only send a photo copy of her birth certificate, and membership in Golden Threads is free for life.
The editor can be contacted at: goldenthreads@earthlink.net
Golden Threads creates and produces a Celebration in Provincetown, MA at the end of every June and it is a joyful meeting of wimmin from all over the world where they can be free to be who they are. Without fear of abuse, harassment or intimidation.

National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (The Task Force)
Issues on Aging
http://www.thetaskforce.org/issues/aging
LGBT people face a number of particular challenges as they age. They often do not have access to adequate health care, affordable housing and other social services that they need due to institutionalized heterosexism and transphobia. Mainstream senior providers have limited information or training in how to appropriately work with and serve our diverse communities. Existing regulations and proposed policy changes in programs like Social Security or Medicare, which impact millions of LGBT elders, are discussed without our views and interests as part of the debate. The Task Force is working on several fronts to ensure that the needs of LGBT elders are not ignored.

Silver Threads
http://www.silverthreadscelebration.com/
Lesbians over age 50 have a lot to celebrate about. We celebrate our age, who we are and that we have another place to congregate. Since 2000, we have been a spin-off of Golden Threads. As they meet annually in Provincetown, MA in June, we convene six months later in January at St. Pete Beach, FL. Younger Lesbians are not excluded, and you can’t be too old either.
We settled on the Dolphin Beach Resort as our “home”. It is recently refurbished and on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Ideally located across from a shopping center, close to restaurants and with a trolley stop right outside. One can use this trolley to get over the Intracoastal to visit the small community of Gulfport, affectionately called "DykePort." An integrated city packed with Lesbians! Or one can travel further to downtown St. Petersburg.
